Technical Project Manager - Mount Laurel, NJ - 12 month Contract (to hire)

Operating within the IT organization, the technical project manager will be a hands-on contributor as well as a leader of other resources successfully delivering the project(s) through the System Development Life Cycle in adherence to Project Management Framework principles. A self-starter, with a strong understanding of application development and agile development methodologies, who will be responsible for working with IT and business professionals to identify project requirements, build out the work plans, commission the development, and execute deliverables that drive continued project momentum, and ultimately satisfactory completion of multiple initiatives.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Experience working with multiple SCRUM teams in Agile delivery and managing Kanban or traditional Waterfall (PMI standard) projects.
  • Lead and facilitate meetings with project stakeholders from all levels.
  • Conducts daily scrum stand-up meetings, facilitates Sprint planning meetings and coordinates Sprint reviews, retrospectives, and burn-down charts.
  • Manage the entire Project Management Life Cycle for new projects as well as transition to the Project Manager from existing projects that are currently in flight.
  • Scope Management, Dependency Management, Risk Management, Issue Management, Stakeholder Management, Cost/Financial Management a MUST!
  • Managing expectations and conflicts/obstacles and unexpected difficulties.
  • Preparing project status reporting (Monthly RAG Reports, Bi-Weekly Stakeholder Reports, etc.); conducting project team meetings, project status meetings, and stakeholder meetings as required; managing/interfacing with all IT/Business functions required for execution.
  • Manage multiple projects in an environment that is early in its project management processes
  • Identify, track and resolve project risks/issues using best practice problem-solving techniques
  • Develop and manage project schedules using MS Project
  • Experienced in managing cross-functional project teams and high-visibility projects

Key Skills and Qualification:

  • Previous Insurance / Re-Insurance Experience
  • Strong meeting facilitation skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • 10-15 years' experience working in a Project Management Office
  • 5-8 years' experience setting up Project Management Best Practices & Guidelines
  • 8-10 years' experience working as a lead PM delivering projects
  • 5-8 years managing Agile/SCRUM projects and multiple SCRUM teams
  • Strong understanding of the Project Delivery Framework and SDLC
  • Strong understanding of Waterfall and Agile Project Management Methodology
  • Mapping capabilities to requirements to ensure that business needs are met
  • Creating technical implementation roadmaps
  • Ensuring compliance with standardized system development lifecycle
  • Applying standard software development life cycle methodologies
  • Structuring projects and releases
  • Prioritizing activities; Planning delivery
  • Ensuring timely completion of milestones
  • Providing status updates to the business stakeholders
  • Maintaining proper documentation and Bottom line budget-focus
  • Prefer someone with PMP or Certified Scrum Master
