The Senior Payroll Manager manages and coordinates the introduction and onboarding of payroll requirements throughout the North American region for this large insurance client. This position is responsible for consistently and accurately processing bi-weekly U.S. payroll using Workday, and for supporting on-going maintenance of Workday Absence Management functionality and service delivery

  • Bi-weekly & monthly payroll processing for 2,000 employees
  • Manage payroll team, providing management, coaching, development and leadership.
  • Analyse and interpret Company policies and differing employment regulations affecting the processing of payroll.
  • Research, analyze, and resolve all discrepancies, reporting to management as needed.
  • Participate in end-of-month closing and audits. Review annual changes to tax regulations and impact to system configuration.
  • Work with IT and HR counterparts, supporting on-going maintenance of Workday Absence Management functionality and service delivery
  • Supervise the review of payroll to ensure accuracy and balancing to data input
  • Coordinate with outside tax team on expatriate tax issues relating to payroll matters
  • Streamline and revise processes and procedures; recommend and implement changes leading to best practices and provide solutions to Payroll and Absence Management
  • Understand cross functional impacts of configuration decisions/touch points, downstream impact of changes to the configuration, data, and integrations.
  • Provide data and reports for SOX auditing and external auditing requirements.

About You:

You will have 5+ years' experience in payroll processing and experience managing a small to large team. The successful candidate will have advanced knowledge of state and local tax regulations with exceptions to taxable wages and applied reciprocity, especially for California, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Please note, experience with Workday Payroll is essential.

The successful candidate will be capable of dealing effectively, diplomatically and courteously with all levels of employees, regulatory authorities and outside agencies. They will have the ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple projects and work under pressure to meet deadlines.

This position is open to fully remote or working from the NJ office.
