Role Description:
An exciting opportunity is available within a growing insurance company to fill a newly created position within their corporate accounting team. This Senior Accountant role will be responsible for the reporting, analysis, and financial close for one of the business units of the company.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reporting journal entries related to reinsurance activities and other related financial reporting calculations
  • Prepare financial reporting disclosures in accordance with US GAAP and Statutory reporting requirements
  • Provide quarterly analysis of financial results
  • Assist with various areas of the US GAAP, Statutory and financial close
  • Implement, document, and maintain appropriate processes and controls in accordance with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements
  • Participate in process improvement and automation projects
  • Determine proper accounting treatment of complex accounting transactions
  • Manage internal and external audit examinations
  • Participate in other ad hoc projects as required

Key job requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in either Commerce, Business or Accounting.
  • Either fully qualified or working towards a U.S. Certified Public Accounting (CPA) qualification or equivalent
  • Knowledge and recent working experience with US GAAP, US Statutory regulatory reporting for reinsurance/insurance companies
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees
  • Perceptive, self-starter with excellent problem solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once and know how to prioritize deadlines
  • Willingness to work overtime and nights/weekends when required to meet deadlines;
  • Dedicated team player who is flexible and adaptable to change; and
  • Organized and has good attention to detail.

The compensation on offer will depend on candidate experience, however the range is from $80,000 - $110,000 base salary with bonus and benefits.
