As a Wordings Legal Counsel, you will advise on a wide variety of legal wording matters supporting and working with the team's senior lawyers as well as underwriters and other stakeholders. You will also be able to work on a number of discrete matters without direct senior lawyer involvement, and will evolve to have your own client relationships, supervising the team's trainee or paralegals where appropriate.
Your responsibilities for this role may include, but are not limited to:
- Creating products from first principles
- Drafting competitive product documentation for lead markets
- Drafting documentation in compliance with law and regulation
- Reviewing broker produced and bespoke policy wordings, accurately identify exposures
- Improving relevant technical knowledge, draft technical bulletins
Experience Desired:
- Sound understanding of general insurance regulation and market practice relevant to product governance and documentation
- Ability to recognize areas of legal and regulatory risk and recommend solutions appropriate for level of experience
- Common sense approach - consider legal issues without losing sight of the business objective
- Excellent drafting and PC skills
- Excellent client management skills
- Ability to prioritise and work under pressure
- Good presentation and negotiating skill
