Purpose of role:

Reporting to the CFO, protect and create value for business by providing insight and challenge on investment related matters and proactive management of all investment responsibilities.

Key Contribution Areas Measures

Investments

• Lead the reviews of Investment Philosophy, Investment Strategy, Strategic Asset Allocations, Investment Policies, with the support of the Royal Investment Office
• Oversee the services provided by investment managers and by the Investment Office
• Monitor investment/fund performance against mandates/objectives and (where applicable) benchmarks
• Review regular reports from investment managers and hold regular meetings with them to discuss performance
• Review any proposed new funds.

Reporting

• Prepare reporting on investment performance
• Review regulatory and statutory investment reporting
• Timely and accurate reviews
• Quality of insights, assessments and recommendations

Governance

• Manage meetings of the executive Investment Committee (agenda and material)
• Prepare and/or review reports and material for the Investment Committee
• Ensure Investment Committee discharges responsibilities in line with its Terms of Reference
• Coordinate the review of the Committee's Terms of Reference
• Manage reporting and escalations from the Investment Committee
• Support the CFO in reporting to the Board on investment performance and oversight/decisions taken by the Investment Committee.
• Timely and accurate material that effectively assist the Investment Committee in discharging its responsibilities.

Analysis

• Provide analysis and commentary on quarterly investment results and investment performance
• Assist the Chief Finance Officer with the shaping and scoping of initiatives to deliver long term financial performance
• Quality of analysis

Unit Linked

• Ensure the unit-linked pricing process is fair and accurate
• Regularly review standards and policies for the operation of the unit linked funds, including the Company's Unit Pricing Policy
• Monitor box levels and any profit or loss arising from box positions
• Oversee outsourced administration of unit funds and unit pricing and monitor against predetermined key performance indicators.
• Prepare reporting on box management

The ideal candidate will have:

• Relevant qualifications (Actuary or Accountant)
• Fellow of relevant professional body and regular fulfilment of applicable CDP requirements
• Experience in investments and unit linked business essential
• Should show a strong business curiosity and ability to work independently
