This role will report into the Head of Group Financial Reporting and will support all of the activities concerned with the monthly preparation of the results for Group. In addition, the incumbent will be required to support the preparation of the statutory accounts and tax returns for non-regulated companies.

Skills and experience

  • Qualified accountant
  • Eye for detail, analytical, problem-solver, pragmatic, hands-on, self-starter, pro active
  • Statutory reporting
  • Tax and VAT accounting
  • Basic Payroll Knowledge (an advantage)
  • Accounting for transactions in foreign currency (an advantage)
  • General ledger (experience of Xero or similar systems an advantage)
  • Excel - advanced (pivot tables, vlook-up, sum-if, etc.)
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills

Tasks

Financial Reporting & Audit: co-ordination of a timely month end ledger close by required deadlines. Posting of manual journals, completion of balance sheet reconciliations for manager review and preparation of trial balances. Analytical review of P&L to ensure all invoices have been captured and all necessary accounting adjustments (accruals, prepayments, provisions etc) have been made.

Monthly Group reporting: completion and submission of monthly group reporting packs for non-regulated entities including appropriate variance commentary. Liaise with external accountants in relation to statutory reporting. Assist external accountants with preparation of financial statements. Assist the auditors with Group and statutory audits.

Corporation Tax and VAT: analytical review of monthly postings to ensure all transactions have been correctly coded for CT and VAT. Preparation of monthly & quarterly VAT reports for external advisers and posting of all associated adjustments. Liaison with external advisers. Ensure all tax sensitive items have been appropriately coded in ledger on monthly basis. Ensure quarterly tax payments on account and end of year return returns are completed and paid by required deadlines.

Revenue: calculate revenue and expense accruals. Review of commission estimates compared to actuals.

Intercompany: Group expenses allocation and recharge model. Run the monthly allocation routine. Raise the monthly inter-Group recharge invoices. Calculation of intercompany loan interest and posting of journals.

Expenses: administration of Xero Expenses Accounts and assist Technical Accountant with invoice queries. Provide support and guidance to Technical Accountant & external bookkeepers.

Payroll: Review of monthly payroll report from external payroll bureau. Ensure setup of salary payments. Completion of Annual PSA Return. Assist payroll bureau with information for P11D Reporting.

Ad hoc: Undertake ad-hoc tasks for the Group Finance team, as required.
