Job Description

Products Legal advice: including on legal issues and regulatory requirements for Hong Kong and Macau relating to all lines of business (traditional life and investment-linked, general insurance, health, employee benefits, high net worth); in addition to working with the business throughout the product life-cycle (i.e. development of new products, riders revamps, brochures, marketing materials, seasonal campaigns and digital marketing).

Product-related Legal advice: advise and guide the business on all product-related matters to find appropriate solutions whilst ensuring compliance with laws and regulations; area include reinsurance agreements, TPA partners; medical service related projects, co-operation agreements; banking services and investment-related agreements; distribution channel matters (agency, brokerage, bancassurance, non-traditional channels), complaints

Committees, Working Groups, Projects: including ensure participation and active involvement by providing guidance on legal and regulatory framework, seamless coordination with other members and escalation where appropriate

General Legal advice: provide strategic legal advice and support to the business and other departments on ad hoc projects and miscellaneous legal topics

Regulatory advice: to work closely and in collaboration with Compliance team on matters/projects/products involving all lines of business and to ensure compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, as well as internal compliance policies

Management: of team of lawyers, including coaching and supporting direct reports to develop skills and independence to deal with internal clients; assisting them with development plans in order to groom talent and ensure knowledge sharing and continued pipeline

Internal Processes: Responsible for all internal processes and procedures for the Legal Department (eg. Internal Control, Operational Risk, Internal Audit) related to products and work with respective Legal Teams and corresponding departments on implementation, testing and reporting
