I am currently working with an Insurance Group on an exclusive basis who are seeking a Group Accountant to join their team. Reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller, the Group Accountant will play a crucial role in maintaining high financial control and governance standards across the Group's finance functions. The role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including financial reporting, compliance, treasury management, process improvement, and regulatory reporting.

The role will be completely remote, but will require very ad-hoc travel to Central London when required.

• Month-end Close Oversight - Monitor the close calendar and prepare group accounting entries to ensure timely and accurate delivery of financial results.
• Monthly Consolidated Financial Reporting - Prepare the monthly consolidated financial reports, providing valuable insights into the Group's financial performance.
• Balance Sheet Reconciliation - Oversee and enhance balance sheet reconciliations across the Group to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data
• Support Finance Operations - Assist the finance operations team with accounts payable (AP) and cash management tasks.
• Systems Management - Maintain finance accounting, banking, AP, and expense systems and ensure the General Ledger (Sage) and related systems are efficiently functioning across all Group entities.
• Accounting Policies and Procedures - Manage and update the Group's accounting policies and financial procedures manual.
• External Audit Support: Play a key role in the annual external audit, preparing the consolidation and financial statements of all Group companies.
• Group Control Framework - Develop and maintain the group control framework to strengthen financial controls and processes.
• Deputising for Group FC - Act as a deputy for the Group Financial Controller and assist in preparing Board reports related to the broking, claims, and insurance businesses.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar
• Professional accounting qualification (ACA or ACCA), preferably within a practice
• Proven experience in financial reporting, accounting, and taxation.
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards, regulations, and financial control frameworks.
• Previous experience with insurance or financial services industry is advantageous.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in financial software and systems, preferably Sage.
• Willingness to adapt and drive change in a fast-paced environment
