We are currently seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee our accounting functions and ensure compliance with GAAP and STAT reporting requirements. This individual will be responsible for managing a team of accounting professionals and providing strategic guidance to support our financial objectives. The ideal candidate will have experience in both financial services and insurance, with knowledge of ceded reinsurance and Schedule F reporting preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and STAT reporting standards, including the preparation of financial statements and regulatory filings.
  • Manage the month-end close process, including review and analysis of financial data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Lead the preparation of quarterly and annual financial reports, including coordination with external auditors and regulatory agencies.
  • Provide strategic guidance and support to senior management on financial matters, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing training and development opportunities to foster growth and professional development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and improve efficiency, driving continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
  • Stay current on industry trends and regulatory changes, ensuring compliance with evolving accounting standards and best practices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA certification preferred.
  • Experience in the insurance industry, with knowledge of ceded reinsurance and Schedule F reporting preferred.
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to effectively manage a team and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make strategic recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, with experience using ERP systems preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and evolving organization, with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Must be available to work in the office five days a week.
