Financial Reporting Analyst

Location: Rotterdam

Overall objective:

As Financial Reporting Analyst you support the finance manager in the overall finance function responsible of managing six insurance entities. The successful individual will be process driven, focusing on improvement and efficiency, demonstrate exceptional technical skills and build meaningful relationships across business areas whilst supporting the finance manager and CFO.

Key responsibilities would include:

  • Supporting the monthly and quarterly management accounts and annual statutory/regulatory financial statements and filings
  • Assist with the annual and interim external audit process
  • Maintaining the control environment for the financial records of the company, including continuous assessment of its effectiveness as the business grows and evolves
  • Collaborate with different key function holders to understand and document data
  • Write queries and perform ad hoc data analysis and assist with the development of BI tools and reports
  • Pro-actively recommending improvements to processes and procedures and involvement in implementation
  • Create, improve, and automate reporting methods
  • Assisting with driving to completion ad hoc projects, in particular Brexit reporting and processes
  • Assist with Tax filing preparation and liaison with tax specialists (CIT, VAT, IPT, Wage tax)
  • Support with other ad-hoc finance and administrative tasks

Person Specification:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Any accounting qualification is highly preferred, or the ambition of obtaining a professional qualification will be strongly supported
  • Qualified candidates should have 1-4 years' experience in an international financial environment
  • Insurance knowledge (highly preferred), a detailed understanding of financial reporting and experience of responding to enquiries from the auditors
  • Experience in automation, optimization and scheduling reports and adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyse significant amounts of data
  • Knowledge of and experience with reporting packages and databases (SQL etc) preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Solutions orientated, flexible and self-organised and hands-on
  • Willingness to travel as and when required.
