UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY (Dublin): Corporate Insurance lawyer to take on a Lead, Senior Counsel position for an up and coming brand. Spawned from a leading protagonist in the industry, and with excellent capitalisation, this would represent a front office legal role that is entrenched in the business and it's profit-driving capabilities.

I have recently been mandated by a client, based in Dublin, seeking to recruit a Senior / Lead Counsel for a business-critical position. Their core market thrust is the acquisition of divested business, largely in the life and pensions arena.
You must be an exceptionally commercially-minded Corporate Insurance Lawyer with knowledge of a broad range of transactional work. You will be directly supporting key executives in the acquisition of particular portfolios, geographical books of business, or whole companies.
They have four main offices across the globe so you will be working closely with a team in dispersed geographical environment and divergent time zones - knowledge and appreciation of cross-border deals would therefore be useful in this environment.
You will also structure key deals from a reinsurance / retrocessionary perspective and well as support regulatory compliance through the management and instruction of external counsel.
This role is exceptionally technically demanding, but also demands that the individual is able to forge, manage and maintain relationships with the executive team and other stakeholders internally. You will also be required to work with non-legal stakeholders such as actuaries, accountants, risk managers as well as the buyers and sellers of the risk.
As such it is expected the individual will have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills in order to thrive in this open, honest, supportive and exceptionally collegiate environment. The company runs a very lean team and is not hierarchically orientated, hence able to act with extreme flexibility and agility when identifying business opportunities. They are also well capitalised and have some of the leading lights of the industry as part of the senior management / Board.
This is a unique role in that it offers the individual a direct link to the business purpose, i.e. making profit, rather than being a back-office, support role that many in house opportunities represent for lawyers. This would, therefore, suit an individual that would like a role that is visible to senior management and takes pride in direct value they can add to a business and its objectives.
