On behalf of our client in London , Oliver James are recruiting for a Corporate Development Manager to join the team on a permanent basis. This will support capital management and wider corporate development activities including strategic initiatives across our clients international business. This is a really exciting new role that's gives you an opportunity to work with a range of teams across the organisation.

  • Support capital management activities in relation to the companies in the European Operations group and the clients Lloyd's syndicates
  • Prepare capital and remittance forecasts, bringing together inputs from the wider Finance and Actuarial/Capital Modelling team.
  • Preparation of high quality analysis to support solvency and remittance projections and articulate how these relate to planned business performance
  • Prepare analysis and materials to support Lloyd's Coming into Line and Quarterly Corridor Test capital management processes, liaising with Treasury colleagues and stakeholders at Lloyd's as required.
  • Work closely with Treasury colleagues on capital and liquidity management including cashflow forecasts and intercompany loan structure.
  • Support preparation of materials for meetings with rating agencies, investors and analysts as required
  • Support the team with maintenance and development of documentation relating to capital management, including but not limited to Recovery Plan and the Capital Appetite Framework
  • Support Head of Capital Management and Strategic Initiatives, and Finance Director, Corporate Development with development of market intelligence capability within FAL to provide insight to the business on competitor and market developments and translate this into meaningful and actionable content for our client.
  • Provide support with preparing materials for governance forums including the Executive Management Board, main Board and Board sub-Committees, regulators and NEDs and with other ad hoc activities as required.
  • Preparation of high-quality commentary on performance of EO/International which tells the commercial 'story' to be utilised in Group Report & Accounts and CEO communications.
  • Support CFO with delivery of communications across the Finance, Actuarial and Legal department.
  • Support strategic initiatives including in relation to optimisation of capital structure (e.g. reinsurance arrangements, commutations), working with other parts of the client and third-party organisations as may be required.
  • Support the Head of Capital Management and Strategic Initiatives, and Finance Director, Corporate Development with other activities as required, which may include activities such as M&A activity, Disposals, 'deep-dives' into business portfolios
  • Build close relationships with other teams to access support as required (e.g., Regulatory Reporting, Capital Modelling, Risk, Business Planning teams)
  • Leverage these relationships to identify how capabilities within Finance, Actuarial & Legal could be enhanced or better deployed to deliver increased shareholder value.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders through the Finance, Actuarial & Legal department and beyond in other teams across the clients international business (including Risk, Underwriting teams) and across the wider clients Group (including Corporate Development, our internal captive reinsurer Equator Re, and Group Investor Relations) in order to determine requirements and understand issues.
  • Regularly monitor and review external reporting requirements and contrast internal processes to those of peers.
  • Produce and submit all reports and deliverables in line with specified timescales to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.

About You

  • Qualified accountant with strong experience of the general insurance sector.
  • Solid understanding of Solvency II requirements.
  • Knowledge of Lloyd's market and capital management framework desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to distil complex information for presentation to non-technical stakeholders and communicate effectively in the most appropriate manner for the audience.
  • An ability to tell the commercial story behind numbers.
  • A curious mindset and genuine passion to deliver improvements in the business.
  • Strong drive to deliver and ability to multi-task and prioritise effectively.
  • Project management skills to plan and organise activity and achieve required deadlines.
  • To negotiate, persuade and influence within the finance, actuarial and legal team, including the ability to lead and influence without relying on formal authority.
