Moving from Diversity to Inclusion: Learnings from APSCo’s Business Disability Forum

19 July 2016

by

Diversity in business is essential for an inclusive culture that supports employee engagement, equality, empowerment and authenticity. We’re passionate about social responsibility and promoting workforce diversity; we truly believe that a diverse workforce is a more productive one.To achieve this, companies must embrace an inclusive work environment through sourcing candidates from a diverse pool.

This morning, we attended the Business Disability Forum organised by APSCo (Association of Professional Staffing Companies). With guest speakers from EY and Business Disability Forum (BDF), we gained further insight into the challenges that both employers and employees face, such as disability which can be overlooked by both parties when it is not necessarily visible.

It's the small changes in corporate behaviours that actually overcome big barriers for disabled candidates at each stage of the recruitment process. This workshop provided us with practical guidance on best practice when it comes to implementing successful, engaging and beneficial Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) programmes around disability. Here at Oliver James Associates we are committed to embracing the diverse nature of society, educating both our consultants and most importantly our clients on inclusive work cultures and the benefits of sourcing from a diverse talent pool.
